Waterfront hotel adds 34 guestrooms
The second phase of this successfull hotel project on Burlington's waterfront involves extending the guest floors out over the entry drive. 34 new rooms will be added, including a hospitality suite on Level 9 with a roof terrace. The new entry drive design will improve pedestrian access to the site. The project broke ground in August 2009 and is scheduled for completion by Summer 2010.
Pizzagalli Construction Company is the construction manager/builder, and Burlington Harbor Hotel Group, LLC is the developer.

Construction
The exterior design of the addition extends the materials and detailing of Phase 1. The guestroom interiors will match those of Phase 1 with some minor refinements and updates to the decor.
Major differences from Phase 1 occur in the details of construction. The structural system uses precast concrete planks instead of the site-poured concrete slab on metal deck system used in Phase 1. This allows for faster construction of the basic frame of the building.Thermally, the exterior envelope of the addition is improved by adding more than double the thickness of continuous rigid insulation used in Phase 1.
